Howard Stern Becoming The New Simon Cowell On ‘American Idol’

A new judge for “American Idol”

When I first heard that “American Idol” producers wanted Howard Stern to replace Simon Cowell, I thought “That can’t be true. Once I found out the truth, I thought to myself, “Howard Stern would never do something like that”. Howard Stern is the man who left mainstream radio for satellite radio because he felt he was censored too much.

Howard Stern, however, has already confirmed that Fox is indeed trying to persuade him to take the position. More interestingly, it just might work. So what would it take for a guy to go from having the freedom to say whatever he wants to being on a Fox program – neverending payroll loans ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://personalmoneystore.com/cash-advance/payroll-loans/)?

Tons of money in salary

Following his usual routine, Howard Stern isn’t being discreet about exactly the salary he’d like “American Idol” to pay him. He would like something similar to the $ 100 million a year he made from his radio show contract. A year of “American Idol”, of course, does not equal a year of work. Stern said on his show:

“$100 million to judge a karaoke contest? Yeah, I think I would do that show for $100 million,” Stern said. “It would be the best thing that happened to me. What a cush job: $100 million for four months. Who wouldn’t take that?”

Howard Stern also said he believes he is the best person for the job. However, if producers actually pay that much for Howard Stern, they might have to up the salaries of the other judges in order to avoid another Paula-Abdul-style dispute.

Thoughts on Howard Stern replacing Simon Cowell

It is true that Howard Stern will be able to be just as feisty of a judge as Simon Cowell. Yet, I can’t believe “American Idol” would agree to pay Howard Stern that much for his first appearance on the show. And I can’t picture Stern being on Fox or any kind of television program that’s deemed “a family show”.

On the other hand, the newest “American Idol” judge, Ellen DeGeneres, is not so thrilled. The Chicago Sun-Times writes that “Ellen has told just about anyone who will listen that she’s totally opposed to the [Howard Stern] idea.”

Just Who Got Kicked Off American Idol May 19?

Since we’re down to the last two contestants, people wonder who got kicked off American Idol May 19. It was Casey James. Goldilocks may have been a hit with Kara, but not enough of a hit with voters. The final showdown is next week, between Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze. Next week will also mark the last time Simon Cowell will judge American Idol.

Casey James off American Idol

Casey James is no more an American Idol hopeful. He will cease to be on the show. As Mike Lynche ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://personalmoneystore.com/moneyblog/2010/04/29/siobahn-magnus/) was kicked off the week before, who got kicked off American Idol May 19 would be the final elimination before the final. Since Casey James gets to go on tour with the rest of the Top 10, he probably won’t need cash loans ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://personalmoneystore.com/cash-advance/cash-loan/) for a while.

Not a big surprise

I think just about everyone saw it coming. American Idol Season 9 has mostly been about Mama Sox. Since this season has mostly been centered around one contestant is proof positive that this season has been – what word am I looking for? Undercooked, I think is fitting. Though Lee DeWyze is certainly good, and other contestants have been as well, Crystal Bowersox and Casey James are some of the best performers overall, having both the pipes but also can hold their own instrumentally. Of the two of them, Casey seems the better guitar player.

The upcoming American Idol Finale

Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze will face off for the finale. That aside, Simon Cowell is leaving, and American Idol is thus losing one of its most vital parts. A gloriously acerbic wit makes programs more watchable. (To drive this point home, one of the most popular Fox dramas is House.) American Idol will be almost unwatchable if they replace Simon Cowell with someone who consistently kisses up to contestants.

The end of the infamous X-factor?

Hit UK show, the X-Factor which is the sister show to US hit, American Idol, is to take a harsh u-turn next year as the lead anchor for the television program, Simon Cowell has confessed he might leave. Can you imagine the X-Factor show without, Simon Cowell? All the snide comments, the cheeky winking and the very strange haircut! It just wouldn’t be the same without him to be honest which is why the show’s producers are more than eager to arrange another deal with Simon Cowell as soon as possible. Simon has repeatedly been talking about his departure from the show stating that he only has one year left on his contract and he will assess it closer to the time. In all honesty, I think it is time for a shake up in the x-factor but it wouldn’t be the same without Simon. The UK born judge also works on neighbouring American shows like, American Idol and Britain’s Got Talent. His current schedule is exhausting claims Simon, ‘something has to give as my schedule for the year is simply too much’. This year’s show has been the best to date as it attracted the biggest names in pop such as, Beyonce, Britney Spears and BoyZone to appear live on stage with the contestants. As far as Ratings are concerned it has been the most incredible turn out with over six million people tuning in to watch the final at the weekend just gone. There have also been rumours considering the future of judge Danni Minogue as she has literally been out classed by fellow judge, Cheryl Cole from UK band, Girls Aloud.
If Simon Cowell were to quit the show, who on earth would take his place? I can’t imagine anyone on TV at the moment which would be able to fill Simon Cowell’s shoes as the angry, witty, slightly charming judge that everyone loves and hates at the same time.

Robbie Williams to appear on x-factor in 2009

Simon Cowell is rumoured to be making big plans to try to lure Robbie Williams to be a judge on next year’s x-factor. It has been claimed that the current presenter on the show, Dannii Minogue may be booted off the show after a furious back stage brawl with fellow judge, Louis Walsh. Danni Minogue admitted earlier this week that she felt distressed and upset when Louis Walsh accused her of stealing his song choice for his band, JLS for her contestant Rachel Hylton. None of these acts actually won the competition in the end but the argument has fuelled hatred that is still going strong between the two judges. Dannii Minogue was also displeased at the fact that the new judge, Cheryl Cole took her special little seat next to lead judge, Simon Cowell and has also looked into rumours that Cheryl Cole is actually getting paid more than she is.
Yet, Minogue has denied reports that she is leaving the competition. She has stated that the producers have told her she is staying and that she has not heard anything different. However a spokesman for the X-Factor show has said that no decisions had been made about who is staying in the competition and that it is all speculation. Personally, I think it is quite exciting that Robbie Williams might be a judge on the show however I would only think that is mere speculation and nothing else at the moment. Addititionally, you have to ask yourself what it will do for the credibility of Robbie Williams’ career as the x-factor is exactly the most highly respected event within the music industry. Liam Gallagher from Oasis has openly stated that the x-factor is a sham and puts false hopes in people minds who are considering getting involved with the music industry. ‘It makes people think that getting into the music industry is easy’.
