What Are Christmas Movies That Are Worth Watching?

Christmas season ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1fZHmIggc8)

It just wouldn’t feel like the Christmas season without TBS running “A Christmas Story” 24/7 leading up to the big day. The Bumpkiss hounds are running through the house eating roast turkey, Ralphy is wishing for his Red Rider BB Gun, the leg lamp is shining in the window and a blanket of white snow has quieted the neighborhood bullies, if only for Christmas Day. This is just one of many nostalgic movies that light up our hearts this holiday season.

Christmas classics seem to reign supreme for the baby boomer generation. The black-and-white nostalgia of “It’s a Wonderful Life” (1946) captures the innocence and the good will of a nation struggling to regain a sense of optimism following World War II. James Stewart and Donna Reed give compelling performances in a heart-wrenching tale of a suicidal man’s realization that he meant so much to so many people. Another old Christmas season ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://christmas.niche-education.com/Christmas2.php) classic from the same era is “Miracle on 34th Street” (1947), which was remade in 1994. A department store Santa finds himself in court when he professes to be the real deal, which captures the heart of a six-year-old skeptic. Lastly, White Christmas ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://christmas.niche-education.com/Christmas2.php) (1954), starring Bing Crosby, where dance, romance and hard economic times take center stage.

For younger children and even nostalgic teens, the 1940s and 50s black-and-white films simply don’t interest them. However, there are many kid’s classics to choose from. With the advent of computers, stop-animation and claymation are dead arts; however, we can still enjoy them in classics like “Will Vinton’s Claymation Christmas Special,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “The Year Without A Santa Claus,” “Davey and Goliath’s Christmas” and “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.” For the puppet lovers, there’s “Emmett Otter’s Jug-band Christmas” and “A Muppet’s Christmas Carol.” Classic cartoons include “Frosty the Snowman,” “Garfield’s Christmas Special,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “Mickey’s Christmas Carol.”

Tasmanian Devil

The Tasmanian Devil character from Looney Tunes cartoons is well known.  The real animal, however, is a bit different.  The animal is quite unique.

Tasmanian Devil ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://devilhappy.com/about-devil/tasmanian-devil/)

First let’s get to that looney and tuney Tasmanian Devil, also called Taz.  Davil May Hare, a cartoon short released in 1954, was its first appearance.  Bugs Bunny outwits him at every turn .  Many of the studio people disliked Taz, so he was shelved.  Bu fans wrote in demanding to see the creature, so the studio resurrected him in the late 50′s.  In the 1990′s he was given the nickname “Taz.”  A star was born.  He even spawned a kid version, “Dizzy Devil,” who was featured in Tiny Toon Adventures.

As stated earlier the cartoon Tasmanian Devil resembled the real thing only in a general way, and in it’s wild behavior while eating.  But the cartoon also looks a lot like a traditional fire and brimstone devil.  The animal is somewhat dog-like.  They store fat in their tails which make up about half of their overall length.  A tasmanian devil with a thin tail isn’t doing well.

Tasmanian Devil ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://devilhappy.com/about-devil/tasmanian-devil/)

Don’t call a Tasmanian Devil slow.  They can run at about 8 miles per hour for short distances.  They use their whiskers as detection devices for night hunting.  As a result of this habit, their hearing and smell are far more developed than their sense of sight.  In fact, they have trouble seeing objects that aren’t moving.

The Tasmanian Devil has the strongest bite, pound for pound, of any mammal.  This is due in large part to their relatively large head and to teeth that continue to grow throughout its life.  As far as lifespan, they generally live about six years in the wild, but longer in captivity.

The largest mammal remaining in Australia, not counting man, is the Tasmanian Devil.  It’s now only on the Island of Tasmania.  After the Thylacine became extinct in the 1930′s, the threat to the Tasmanian Devil was recognized.  People hunted them because they were a nuisance.  People ate them, describing them as something like veal.

Today the Tasmanian Devil is protected.  And thanks to cartoons, well known in the world.

Devils Tower

If you ever seen the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind then you’ve seen the Devils Tower.  This distinctive mountain landmark is hard to miss.

Devils Tower ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://devilhappy.com/about-devil/devils-tower/)

It became famous when Richard Dreyfuss began having visions of the Devils Tower with its flat top and ridged sides.  He forms his mashed potatoes into something that looks like it.  Needless to say his family is alarmed.  He becomes more and more obsessed with the mountain.  He paints it and then really goes nuts.  When he brings in piles of dirt from the yard to create a scale replica in his living room, his wife and kids leave him.  Many people remember this scene.

Eventually Richard’s character travels to Wyoming to see the real Devils Tower.  Despite warnings from the military to stay away, he sneaks up to the mountain.  What he finds is incredible.  People use a big organ to communicate with aliens, who eventually land.  People who have been lost for years, not aged a day, come out of the huge ship.  Richard’s character is amongst those who choose to travel with the aliens back to their home planet.  A sequel or remake has never been begun.  Later versions shown on television and released on DVD included scenes inside the ship.  They didn’t add much to the movie.

Devils Tower ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://devilhappy.com/about-devil/devils-tower/)

Back to the real Devils Tower.  It’s in Wyoming.  Scientists call it a monolithic igneous intrusion.  This is also known as a lava neck.  It forms when magma flows out of a volcanic vent.  It’s generally the sign of an active volcano.  Some geologists dispute that Devils Tower is such a formation.

The Indians made a legend about the formation of Devils Tower.  Sisters walking in the wilderness stumbled onto some bears.  The girls ran.  The girls called for help, and the Great Spirit replied by raising the land where they stood.  The Bears would not give up.  Every time they made it nearly to the top, they slid back to the bottom.  The distinctive indentations in the sides of the tower come from the bears’ claws.

There’s another legend about two young Sioux braves.  A giant bear called Mato came upon them.  It wanted to rip them apart with its claws so it could eat them.  The boys prayed to the creator to help them.  He did, raising the ground beneath them.  Just as with the stories involving the girls, and this one the giant bear tried to get at them from all sides but could not.  The mountain is now scored by it’s tremendous claws.

No matter how it formed, the Devils Tower is a great place.

The greatest TV mystery - Who is the Stig?

The cover on the Stig's identity has been blown. It is reported that the Stig is a married man with three kids and apparently drives a boring car. This is just the latest rumor in a strong of apparent revelations about the identity of the shadowy character who is only ever seen on screen in a driving helmet. In 2003, the Sunday Mirror claimed that they had uncovered the identity of the stig as former Formula one driver, Perry McCarthy. Perry McCarthy failed to confirm the rumor at the time only saying that he knew who the stig was and nothing. Yet, although he cleared himself of any knowledge of who the stig is, it is reported that he has been apparently replaced by the current mystery driver who everyone is dying to meet.

Even music man, Jamiroquai singer, Jay Kay has been suspect of being the mystery driver. An insider has claimed that jay kay had confirmed that he played the infamous role of the mystery driver on several occasions. Other wild claims state that The Stig’s home is a shrine to himself and his walls are covered in pictures of himself, with famous his famous suit and helmet on display in a glass cabinet. Additionally, an art gallery owner in Bristol printed a picture of the Stig without his helmet on and had to sign a confidential agreement stating that he would never tell anyone who the mystery driver is. However, it is reported that he has already told his friends and family and as everyone knows, word of mouth spreads faster than wild fire. I dont think that the real identity of Top Gear's Stig will ever be revealed as it really would just ruin the TV show.

After an interview with a BBC representitive, it was said that “no one will ever officially confirm his identity”.

New American Idol Season Is Exciting

Okay, so I’m probably the one of the few people who don’t really get into American Idol. I remember when it first started and I was so surprised by the show thinking that it would be a flop. By season 2 I realized I was completely wrong. Every year the show seems to get bigger, and more copycat shows come out like Dancing with the Stars. Why good old television can’t make a comeback I don’t know.

Now 7 seasons later and it’s bigger than ever. It’s a very coveted time slot for advertisers to get their products in since it’s audience runs the gamut from teens to grandmas.I have to admit though that this season may end up being a guilty pleasure. My girlfriend is an addict and generally once I watch 4 or 5 shows I get hooked on something.

I love see watching the beginning shows for the awful performances of wanna be idols. By this time around those people who sound horrible on the show must just be looking for their 15 minutes of fame. There are a few really tallented people on this season including Pia Easley ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://americanidol8contestants.mangacite.com/pia-easley/) and Kristy Lee Cook ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://americanidol8contestants.mangacite.com/kristy-lee-cook/).

Although I do think there have been a lot of talented people who have been discovered on the show, I feel the premise of the show kind of sucks. There are so many talented musicians out there trying to make it and they can’t even get record contracts, but here these so called “idols” are getting everything handed to them.  With a few exceptions, most of the winners turn out to be a one hit wonder. I think this may be my year to come around to the phonomia that is American Idol, and if not I know I will love people making themselves look stupid early in the season.

Where to download Wii Games

Can I download Wii games ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://www.squidoo.com/Unlimited-games-download) online? More people prefer to download wii games online than buying in shops around because they can almost find any games they want in the internet while the shops around may not provide such a wide variety of games. Downloading Wii games online is much cheaper than buying Wii game after game from the shops. Nintendo Wii is a awesome gameplay console supported with modern unseen piece of controllers with a very vast range of games, however, keep buying these games might be very expensive to you in the long term.

There are now many sites online that offer you to download unlimited nintendo wii games online with very much cheaper price than buying them from the shops around your house. There are various types of downloading sites though so be careful. There are the pay per download sites which are OK if you only want to download 1 particular game, and then there are sites which offer unlimited downloads for a 1 time only membership fee.

The membership fee is so cheap that it is only the price of a Wii game or maybe a little more, no outrageous addtional charges or monthly fees. Then there are also illegal free torrent sites which I advise you stay well clear of because not only are they illegal but can contain lots of viruses and spyware.

A good site to download Wii games will also offer other types of media to play on your Wii such as Movies, Music and TV shows. The best part in buying membership site is that you’ll get step by step guides on how to find and download the games you like and all the relevant softwares to transfer the games to your pc and play in your wii. Plus, you’ll get a 24/7 customer support.

I have done a very very honest review site where you can download Nintendo Wii games ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://www.squidoo.com/Unlimited-games-download) online.

Gaara Of The Desert

What exactly is Gaara of the Desert?  Is it a strange plant that lives on sand?  Or is it an Ogre that eats unsuspecting travelers?  It’s far stranger than any of that.  Because Gaara of the Desert is a character in the Japanese Anime and Manga “Naruto.”

Gaara Of The Desert ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://desertnow.com/about-desert/gaara-of-the-desert/)

Gaara of the Desert has an interesting name and is associated with many Japanese names and concepts that have to do with his character.  A Japanese letter is written on Gaara’s head.  It’s a character that comes from his name, meaning love.  The words self and carnage are also carried in his name.  Thus his name can be taken to mean person who enjoys carnage.

Gaara Of The Desert ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://desertnow.com/about-desert/gaara-of-the-desert/)

The name fits well with the character because Gaara of the Desert is a killer.  At six years old he murdered a person who passed him in the streets.  That concerned his father.  Gaara then killed some assassins his father sent to finish him.  Even ninjas, hired by his father, couldn’t get the job done.

Gaara of the Desert is around 12 when Naruto first starts.  He was created by his father, yes the same one who tried to kill him, as a perfect fighting machine.  His power and violence comes from a demon that was put inside him at birth.  If Gaara dares fall asleep, the demon will completely control him.

Gaara of the desert is an enemy to Naruto.  Both were born in similar circumstances.  But the choices they make in life were not the same.  At its most basic, Gaara was evil while Naruto was good.  They face each other many times.  Gaara eventually dies when Naruto removes the demon.  Later in the series, however, Naruto resurrects Gaara.

Gaara Of The Desert ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://desertnow.com/about-desert/gaara-of-the-desert/)

Without a good villain no hero is truly a hero.  For Naruto, that  villain was often Gaara of the Desert.  his appearances in the Manga and Anime are well loved by many fans.

If you ever meet him, don’t make Gaara of the Desert angry.  You wouldn’t like him when he’s angry.

Pearls at the Golden Globes: Susan Sarandon continues a long line of classy pearl-loving celebs

Watch Susan Sarandon on the Red Carpet at the Golden Globes ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Olz2miSdcGs)

After last year’s cancellation, The Golden Globes were back with a bang on Sunday night. As usual, the question of who was wearing what on the red carpet generated as much buzz as the awards themselves. If you looked past the glitzy gowns and shining sapphires, you might have noticed, as I did, the timeless elegance of Susan Sarandon, who had donned with pride a Fred Leighton exclusive long pearl necklace. The oscar-winning actress was clearly head over heels for her designer necklace and it sounded like Leighton will have a job on his hands getting her to let go of the piece.Well wouldn’t you? Her 32″ string looked both modern and elegant around her neck.

But does the fact that Susan Sarandon, aged 62, was one of the only A-listers adorned with pearls on the night mean we are going back to the stereotype of pearls only being worn by old dears? No chance! Episode III Star Wars

The chronology of the Star Wars saga truly became complete with the release of the Episode iii Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. In the Clone Wars, George Lucas showed us the way it all started with the childhood of Anakin Skywalker, that was to become Darth Vader in its adult years, and how the story had to move on. Episode iii Star Wars was released in May 2005 and enjoyed great reviews from critics, registering a huge box office success seven days after the launching. The series has always occupied a unique place in the history of cinema, which is why everybody was anxious to see how it all started.

Episode III Star Wars ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://nightstarinfo.com/about-stars/episode-iii-star-wars/)

In the 70s, George Lucas only focused on plot development with insistence on major events, which left room for plenty of chronological gaps. Back then, details came second on the priority list, and the important facts were the ones to count for film making. Episode iii Star Wars needed several scene modifications before it was released, as the director altered scenes, scripts and editing. Nevertheless, the result was worth waiting for, since Episode iii Star Wars speaks about more than just the beginnings of the galactic empire, as it plunges into a revelation of evil and its corrupting force.

Episode III Star Wars ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://nightstarinfo.com/about-stars/episode-iii-star-wars/)

Design required just as much attention as the screenplay for Episode iii Star Wars, and Lucas was fully aware of it. The art department would work on hundreds of patterns that were supposed to appear on screen. During the film making, they even used pre-visualization techniques to get an idea of how the scenes and the characters would appear in the final version. Steven Spielberg also assisted the making of the Revenge of the Sith, observing all the work that Lucas and his team devoted themselves to for the analysis of every sequence. Stunts are an incredible and must-have part of the film, particularly in what the fight scenes are concerned; thus, the famous duel moment between Anakin and Obi-Wan is rendered at the speed at which it actually took place, with very little cuts used to increase velocity.

Episode III Star Wars ^(http://www.indiefilmhouse.com/goto/http://nightstarinfo.com/about-stars/episode-iii-star-wars/)

Episode iii Star Wars was filmed almost exclusively on the stages of the Fox Studios in Sidney, Australia, although various backgrounds were later shot for the purpose of creating practical environments. Thus, a team filmed the eruption of Mount Etna in Italy, and the material was used in the end of the film to create the background of the Mustafar planet. Episode iii Star Wars also had a theatrical counterpart that was released almost in the same time with the movie. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on May 15, 2005, without entering the competition, while the play was put on stage four days later.
